Frosting Away Steamy Summer Days
By Brian J. Pedersen
Foothills resident Pam Crooke had an extra reason to go
shopping at La Encantada last weekend: fresh gelato. "Just taking
a Frost break," Crooke said, in between swallows of mint chocolate
chip.
Frost, the locally-owned gelato shop on the Northwest Side, has
been operating a small cart in the courtyard at La Encantada, 2905
E. Sunrise Drive, on select weekend days since April. Its presence
has been in conjunction with the upscale shopping center's Summer
of Enchantment Culinary Concert Series.

Greeted by an expansive, stainless-steel gelato cooler displaying 39 flavors - 2/3 of them gelato and 1/3 of them sorbet, there is plenty for customers to see and to eat. Jeff Kaiserman, 25, and Stephen Ochoa, 24, are the owners of Frost and have been friends since the second grade. They said they want their customers to be "wowed" when they enter the ice-blue shop. Popsynth Reviews FROST
A mana to the harsh desert, Gelato by Frost is heaven sent! Ice cream joints like Marble Slab and Cold Stone are awesome in the winter, but what about beating the heat? eegees takes some of the edge off, but nothing compares to the Frost.
The decoration and design style is very art contempo modernist. Their graphic artist knew his business because everything from the napkins to the furnishings has the same branding feel. Be sure to read the shirts of the servers, they all convey different messages. Every wall hanging is backlit and sporting stainless steel. The photos are wonderful images from the shopping center with crafty placements of Frost products. Very professional... full story |
